Too much tea and coffee, increases migraine and fibromyalgia pain, worsens IBS findings.
Caffeine in coffee:
• Decreases sleep quality by disturbing adenosine receptors, making it difficult to fall asleep
• Increases the excitability of nerve cells and brain, making them more susceptible to pain
• Increases anxiety
• Triggers the stress response, causing high cortisol levels
• Increases blood pressure
• Reduces magnesium levels
• Causes twitching in the muscles
• Reduces vitamin B levels
Alongside caffeine can cause restless legs syndrome, orthostatic entolerance, brain fog, IBS and hyperactive bladder findings worsening.
Tea also may cause: (in addition to the above)
• Constipation due to theophylline
• Histamine entolerance by DAO inhibition.
• Worsen iron deficiency by reducing iron absorption
➢ Do not change the amount and frequency of coffee and tea consumption, reduce gradually.
➢ Remember that green tea contains caffeine
➢ Try not to exceed 200 mg of caffeine per day; for example 2 small sized americanos /filter coffee, 3-4 cups tea…
➢ Do not consume coffee and tea after 2 pm. Switch to Decaf coffee, dilute tea, herbal teas.
➢ Cow milk and its products increase your pain and allergies, don’t consume them.
➢ Soy products contain glutamate, prolamines and lectin; they cause brain irritability and leaky gut; do not consume.
➢ Chemicals contained in coffee whiteners cause dysbiosis, leaky gut and cause allergies; don’t use them.
