Folik almak için eczaneye koşmadan önce bir kaç noktaya dikkat etmenizi öneririm
Folik asidi, bitkisel besinlerle aldığınız zaman, folik asidin yanında diğer B vitaminlerini (B12 hariç), A, C, K, E vitaminleri, magnezyum, çinko, selenyum, krom, potasyum, Omega 3 doymamış yağlar ve pek çok antioksidan molekül ve fitobesleyici polifenol ile birlikte alırsınız. Ayrıca bitkisel besinlerin sağladığı lifler, hem bozulan bağırsak bakterilerinin dengesinin düzelmesine yardımcı olur, hem de bağırsak bakterilerinizi besleyerek kendi folik asidinizi üretmenize yardımcı olur.
Hayvansal besinlerle aldığınız zaman B12, D ve A vitamini, demir, doymamış yağlar ve antioksidanlar ile birlikte alırsınız.
Doğal yollarla, besinlerden folik asit alan yaşlıların bilişsel fonksiyonları takviye alanlardan iyi, depresif yakınmaları daha az çıkmıştır.
Dışarıdan fazla folik asit almak, doğal yollarla alınan folik asitin fonksiyonlarını da bozar.

Ayrıca yeteri kadar lif almamak bağırsaktaki dengesizliği artırır, artmış bağırsak geçirgenliğine neden olur.
Besinlerde ve bakterilerin ürettiği folik asit metil-folat olarak indirgenmiş formda bulunur. indirgenmemiş folik asit (düz folat) MTHFR mutasyonu olan hastalar tarafından kullanılamaz). Bu nedenle eczaneden takviye alacaksanız metil-folat (metil tetrahidrofolik asit- metafolin) formunda olmasına dikkat edin.
